Your data stays yours

In short
- EconRig has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and no servers of its own.
- Everything you create in the app stays on your iPhone.
- The app loads data directly from public data providers; like any website you visit, they see the request and your IP address.
- This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no external fonts or scripts.

2. The EconRig app
No personal data is collected by us
The app does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details, has no user accounts, and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code and no third-party SDKs. We do not receive, store or share information about how you use the app.
Data stored on your device
Your datasets, imported files, scans, saved papers and seminars, reading list, custom exchange rates and currencies, module profiles and settings are stored only in the app's storage on your iPhone. They are included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup) according to your own iOS settings. Deleting the app deletes this data.
The app also saves copies of downloaded data so it works offline. You can see and delete them at any time under Offline data (the ⬇︎ button on the home screen); they are trimmed automatically above 200 MB.
Camera, photos and files
The camera, photo library and files are only used when you choose to scan or import something (for example in Graph Digitizer, Table Scanner, Chart Builder or Cite It). Images are processed on your iPhone — text recognition and chart digitising run on the device — and are not uploaded.
Requests to public data providers
To show data, the app connects directly from your iPhone to the providers listed below. As with any internet request, the provider receives technical information such as your IP address, the time and the data requested, and processes it under its own privacy policy. EconRig does not receive a copy.
Most requests contain no input from you (for example "euro area yield curve" or "US unemployment rate"). Some include what you type or choose:
- New Papers searches are sent to OpenAlex;
- Cite It title or DOI lookups are sent to Crossref, doi.org and OpenAlex;
- Econ News keywords are sent to Google News;
- Bank Metrics bank-name searches are sent to the FDIC;
- feeds you add yourself in Seminars or Calls & Jobs are loaded from the address you entered.
Providers include: FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis), the Federal Reserve Board, the European Central Bank, Eurostat, Deutsche Bundesbank, the Bank of England, the Office for National Statistics, the Bank of Canada, Statistics Canada, the IMF, the World Bank, the FDIC, the EBA, BaFin, the OCC, the BIS, the FSB, OpenAlex, Crossref and Google News, plus the websites of conferences and job boards whose feeds the app reads.
Links
When you open an article, paper or announcement, it is shown from the original website, which has its own privacy policy.
App Store
EconRig is distributed through Apple's App Store. Apple processes data related to downloads and updates under its own privacy policy. If you have enabled sharing with app developers in iOS, Apple may provide anonymised crash reports and usage statistics; according to Apple, these do not identify you.
3. Contacting support
If you email support@econrig.com, your email address and message are used only to answer you and to fix the issue you report (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Emails are deleted once they are no longer needed for that purpose, or earlier if you ask.
4. This website
econrig.com uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no external fonts, scripts or embeds. When you visit it, the hosting provider automatically processes technical data in server logs (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser information) to deliver the site and keep it secure (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These logs are deleted after a short period.
Hosting provider: [name and country of your hosting provider].
5. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing and to data portability. Because EconRig does not collect personal data, these rights mainly concern support emails. Write to support@econrig.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
6. Children
EconRig is a professional tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal data from anyone.
7. Changes
If this policy changes — for example because a new module uses a new data provider — the updated version will be published here with a new date.
